The 70×7 expression is symbolic for infinity; Christians are called to forgive an infinite number of time because that is the number of time they are forgiven by God ; when a Christian fails to forgive, it becomes inconsistent with the infinite forgiveness of God.
All sins shall be forgiven , except the sin against the Holy Ghost; for Jesus will save all except the sons of perdition. He must receive the Holy Ghost, have the heavens opened unto him, and know God, and then sin against him. After a man has sinned against the Holy Ghost, there is no repentance for him.
According to the Bible, when Peter Asked a similar question that how many times should I forgive a brother who has sinned against me, then Jesus Answered “No, not seven times ,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” God has a Merciful Heart and His Mercy and Compassion and Love guides Us and Forgives Us.
Yes – God does forgive an unlimited amount of time – even after we have sinned – He reaches out to us in love: Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “ Lord , how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me?
In Matthew, Jesus says that church members should forgive each other “ seventy times seven times ” (18:22), a number that symbolizes boundlessness. The meaning of “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” is open to interpretation, but it is clear that there is a sin that God will not forgive under any circumstances.
A: There are many sins recounted in the Hebrew Bible but none are ever called unforgivable sins . Sometimes the punishment for sinning is death, but repentance is always possible before punishment. I believe that God can forgive all sins provided the sinner is truly contrite and has repented for his or her offenses.
God will forgive you for the sin (every time) if you truly seek forgiveness and are trying to do better, and not just to appease a guilty conscience or so you can keep sinning without consequence.
Leviticus 19:28 reads, ” You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord”. Even devout Christian Mr Folau has a couple of tattoos of his own – so there are a lot of sinners going straight to Hell for this one .
There is no limit. There is no limit on how many times you may ask forgiveness from God, even for the same repeated sin . This should not, of course, encourage us to keep on sinning .
No. No true Christian is thinking, “How many times can I sin and get away with it,” or “How many times can I use that forgiveness thing?” No, true Christians want to please God . And even those that are stumbling and falling a lot, God loves them. And if they confess their sins , He forgives them.
In truth the Bible lists three unforgivable sins, which contradicts what Jesus said about the subject they are as follows: Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit we all know this one that’s where the Pharisees accuse Jesus of being demon possessed. Apostasy a willful defection from the faith. Receiving the mark of the beast.
“ After God forgives you , does he still punish you for your sins?” No. Jesus paid the penalty for those sins. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Seventy signifies spiritual perfection. So seventy times seven means we need to forgive someone completely, and not let it continue to fester or play over and over again in our minds. The only way we can get rid of it is through the spiritual perfection of Jesus, in us.
Bible Math Matthew 18:21, 22. Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times ?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times , but seventy times seven .”
Seven and seventy are numbers which signify fullness and completion, so it is not surprising to see this number thrown around in these contexts. It is a very poetic way of saying that Peter needs to forgive without condition, without counting, without any other consideration. Forgiveness must be limitless.
