Luke 3:1 says that John baptised Jesus in 29 CE. Relying on these figures, John the Baptist was at least 33 and probably at least a few years older than this, when he died.

A good starting point for determining the date of Christ Jesus ‘ date of birth is to look at the dates we have in the Bible surrounding the life of John the Baptist , who was Jesus’s older cousin. Jesus was 6 months younger than John the Baptist .

Matthew records that when Jesus asked John to baptise him, John was reluctant to do so. This could be for the following reasons: baptism is for the forgiveness of sin, yet Jesus is God’s son and therefore sinless. Jesus is the greater person John has been telling people about, so John does not feel worthy to baptise
Possibility #1: Jesus was baptized in order to identify with those he came to save. And Jesus knewthat he too must identify himself with this movement towards God” John’s baptism was part of the people’s turning from sin and turning toward God. Jesus wanted to identify with this turning.
The assumption that the Beloved Disciple was one of the Apostles is based on the observation that he was apparently present at the Last Supper, and Matthew and Mark state that Jesus ate with the Twelve. Thus, the most frequent identification is with John the Apostle , who would then be the same as John the Evangelist .

Most scholars reckon Jesus was crucified between 30 and 33AD, so 1985-8 years ago. Seeing as we can assume Jesus was about 30 when he was baptised and began his ministry, we know he was over 30 when he was crucified.
