What did Jesus mean, when he says that ” he came to seek and save that which was lost “? Jesus was educated among the Essenes, whose mission was to bring all the disparate tribes of Israel back together again, so that the Nation of Israel would be one. So Jesus was referring to the Jews who had fallen by the wayside.
— H.S. A: One of the best-known Bible verses is: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Indeed, Jesus was sent by God to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10).
A dead soul is as a sleeping soul , inert. But the sleeping soul can be revived. Explanation and Commentary of Luke 10 : 19 The mightiest of demons, even satan himself, does not have as much power and authority as the weakest of believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Mark 2:27-28, Matthew 12:8 and Luke 6:5 include the Lord of the Sabbath pericope where Jesus tells the Pharisees “The sabbath was made for man , and not man for the sabbath: so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.” Christians commonly take the phrase ” son of man ” in this passage to refer to Jesus himself.
