The Resurrection of Jesus is the Christian belief that Jesus Christ came back to life on the third day after his crucifixion by the Romans in approximately AD 30–33. In Christian theology, the death and resurrection of Jesus are the most important events, a foundation of the Christian faith, and commemorated by Easter.
Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again’ (Luke 24:5–7) . The female followers then returned to tell Jesus ‘ apostles and other people that Jesus had risen from the dead.
The Bible tells us that Jesus died and rose again not only so that we could receive forgiveness, but even more so, He died and rose again so that we might have life. It is through His death and resurrection that we receive life. He died and rose again that we might live for Him – that’s loving service.

Matthew has two post- Resurrection appearances, the first to Mary Magdalene and ” the other Mary” at the tomb, and the second, based on Mark 16:7, to all the disciples on a mountain in Galilee, where Jesus claims authority over heaven and Earth and commissions the disciples to preach the gospel to the whole world.
The raising of Lazarus is a miracle of Jesus recounted only in the Gospel of John (John 11:1–44) in the New Testament in which Jesus raises Lazarus of Bethany from the dead four days after his entombment.
9 Now when he was risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene , from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10 She went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And they, when they heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, disbelieved.
The earliest Christians maintained that Jesus was a human being who was made God – a god – a divine being. Later they ended up saying that Jesus was born to the union of God and a mortal because the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and that’s how she conceived Jesus , so Jesus literally had God as his father.
This is the first of three miracles of Jesus in the canonical gospels in which he raises the dead , the other two being the raising of Jairus’ daughter and of Lazarus.

After his resurrection , Jesus sent eleven of them (minus Judas Iscariot, who by then had died) by the Great Commission to spread his teachings to all nations. This event has been called the Dispersion of the Apostles . The period of early Christianity during the lifetimes of the apostles is called the Apostolic Age.
After being baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days and nights in the Judaean Desert. Jesus having refused each temptation, Satan then departed and Jesus returned to Galilee to begin his ministry. During this entire time of spiritual battle, Jesus was fasting.
