The significance of Jesus’s presentation at the Temple is that, for the first time, he is recognized as the Messiah. The man who recognizes him, Simeon, is a devout Jew who has for many years been waiting for the savior of his people. As soon as he sets eyes on Jesus , Simeon knows that he is that savior, the Messiah.
Simeon (Greek Συμεών, Simeon the God-receiver) at the Temple is the “just and devout” man of Jerusalem who, according to Luke 2:25–35, met Mary, Joseph, and Jesus as they entered the Temple to fulfill the requirements of the Law of Moses on the 40th day from Jesus ‘ birth at the presentation of Jesus at the Temple .
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple , and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Anna (Hebrew: חַנָּה, Ancient Greek: Ἄννα) or Anna the Prophetess is a woman mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. According to that Gospel, she was an elderly woman of the Tribe of Asher who prophesied about Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem. She appears in Luke 2:36–38 during the presentation of Jesus at the Temple.
Gospel account The episode is described in Luke 2:41–52. Jesus at the age of twelve accompanies Mary and Joseph, and a large group of their relatives and friends to Jerusalem on pilgrimage, “according to the custom” – that is , Passover.
So we know from this that Jesus was 7 + 33 = 40 days old at the time of this ceremony. (We know that the eighth day after birth is the first of the following 33 days because the account also says that after the birth of a daughter a mother waits twice as long, specifically 14 + 66 = 80 days.)

Summary of Jesus’ life He was born to Joseph and Mary sometime between 6 bce and shortly before the death of Herod the Great (Matthew 2; Luke 1:5) in 4 bce. According to Matthew and Luke, however, Joseph was only legally his father.
Simeon as a boy’s name is pronounced SIM-ee-on. It is of Hebrew origin , and the meaning of Simeon is “to hear, to be heard; reputation”. Biblical: the second-born of Jacob’s 12 sons.
They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach . The people were amazed at his teaching , because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
In the Christian gospels, the ministry of Jesus begins with his baptism in the countryside of Palestine and Transjordan, near the river Jordan by John the Baptist, and ends in Jerusalem, following the Last Supper with his disciples.
Biblical scholars say that in these gospels, the mission of Jesus was less than twelve months. In John’s Gospel, Jesus just as clearly went to Jerusalem four times for the Passover.
Some apocryphal accounts state that at the time of her betrothal to Joseph, Mary was 12–14 years old . According to ancient Jewish custom, Mary could have been betrothed at about 12. Hyppolitus of Thebes says that Mary lived for 11 years after the death of her son Jesus, dying in 41 AD.
Candlemas is a Christian holiday celebrated annually on February 2. It celebrates three occasions according to Christian belief: the presentation of the child Jesus; Jesus’ first entry into the temple; and it celebrates the Virgin Mary’s purification (mainly in Catholic churches).
