Proverbs 22:9 The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor. Proverbs 21:26 All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing. Proverbs 14:31 Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.

Moses penned it in the Law. Offering . An offering is anything given over and above the Tithe. Grace. Grace giving is the goal for the Christian.
Hebrews 13:16 It says that we should be giving in both time and money . It says we should be generous and willing to give anything we can– if we don’t have money , we should serve.
The payment of tithes is mandatory for members to receive the priesthood or obtain a temple recommend for admission to temples. The LDS Church is a lay ministry. The money that is given is used to construct and maintain its buildings as well as to further the work of the church.
It also doesn’t mean you’re a bad Christian if you don’t tithe . God loves us when we give and when we don’t give. 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

As we turn to the Bible for wisdom and discretion, let’s meditate on this piece of encouragement: Don’t close off your heart when you’re in the situation of being asked to give to beggars . “ Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you” (Matthew 7:12). Keep your heart soft, and open to the Holy Spirit.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” The Good News: In many ways, the mere act of being charitable is its own reward. But as this verse notes, being compassionate to people who are less fortunate is also something that God will reward.
Move forward some in the Bible , and in Malachi 3:10-12, giving is the one thing God tells us to test him in. In the New Testament God himself gave us his only son because he loves us so much, and that Son died on a cross for us. It sets a model that generosity in God’s people should be sacrificial.
Giving has been proven to decrease blood pressure and reduce stress . This reduction promotes longer life and better health. Giving promotes social connection. Studies show that when you give to others, your generosity is often continued down the line to someone else, or returned to you.
First Fruits is a religious offering of the first agricultural produce of the harvest. In classical Greek, Roman, and Hebrew religions, the first fruits were given to priests as an offering to deity.
Tithing is a form of worship because it shows God you trust Him—not money —to provide. You cannot serve God and money .” On the other hand, when you serve, you worship God by stewarding your time and your talents for Him.
The Bible in Acts 20:35 states that “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive ” which teaches that there is joy in the act of giving when it is done with pure motives.
According to the standard list, they are pride, greed , wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth, which are contrary to the seven heavenly virtues.
