Mormon doctrine differs from orthodox Christian views with respect to salvation. Protestant Christians believe in “Faith Alone” for salvation and criticise the LDS for a belief in salvation through good works.
Like most Christians, Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Creator of the World. However, Mormons hold the unique belief that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two distinct beings.
Jesus is mentioned every 1.7 verses and is referred to by one hundred different names. The book describes Jesus , prior to his birth, as a spirit “without flesh and blood”, although with a spirit “body” that looked similar to how Jesus would appear during his physical life.
In Mormon belief , Jesus ‘ death on the cross was the easy part of the task the Father had sent him to do , compared to Jesus ‘ suffering the weight of all the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemane. But among most Mormons , that message of freedom is taken very seriously in relation to government power.
Similarities. Mormonism and Islam each believe in a life after death: belief in the Last Judgment and an Afterlife is one of the Six Articles of Belief of Islam ; it also forms an essential element of the Mormon belief system.
Unlike many other Christians, the LDS Church does not use the cross , crucifix or ichthys as symbols of faith. Many Mormons view crucifixion-related symbols as emphasizing the death of Jesus rather than his life and resurrection.
Is divorce allowed? Mormon marriages are different from most marriages because they are considered eternal. However, the church does have a process for annulment and sees divorce as an unfortunately necessary evil.

Joseph Smith as the sole author, without intentional assistance, possibly reflecting Smith’s own life events. Theories of multiple authors posit collaboration with others to produce the Book of Mormon, generally citing Book of Mormon scribe Oliver Cowdrey or Sidney Rigdon as potential co-authors.
The Book of Mormon teaches that God the Father, and his Son Jesus Christ , and the Holy Ghost are “one”, with Jesus appearing with a body of spirit before his birth, and with a tangible body after his resurrection. The book describes the “Spirit of the Lord” “in the form of a man” and speaking as a man would.
The LDS Church publicly renounced the practice of polygamy in 1890, but it has never renounced polygamy as doctrine, as evidenced in LDS scriptures. It has always permitted and continues to permit men to be married in Mormon temples “for the eternities” to more than one wife .
Unitarians believe in the moral authority but not necessarily the divinity of Jesus. Their theology is thus opposed to the trinitarian theology of other Christian denominations.
Christ Suffered and Died to Atone for Our Sins In the Garden of Gethsemane, the weight of our sins caused Him to feel such agony that He bled from every pore (see D&C 19:18–19). Later, as He hung upon the cross, Jesus suffered painful death by one of the most cruel methods known to man.
