Muslims believe that Jesus (called “ Isa ” in Arabic) was a prophet of God and was born to a virgin (Mary ).
Muslims believe that God is the only true reality and sole source of all creation. Everything including its creatures are just a derivative reality created out of love and mercy by God’s command, “”Be,” and it is.” and that the purpose of existence is to worship or to know God .
However, there are several differences between the biblical and Quranic accounts: In Genesis, the sacrificial son is Isaac, whereas in the Quran name of the son is Ishmael (Arabic: اسماعيل) . While God seems to speak directly to Abraham in Genesis, He speaks through a vision in the Quran .
The Quran states: “O Mary ! God has chosen you and purified you and again he has chosen you above all women of all nations of the worlds”. Sa’imah: She who fasts. Mary is reported to fast one-half of a year in some Muslim traditions.
Although the Quran refers to the ‘gospel’ of Jesus , those specific teachings of his are not mentioned in the Quran or later religious texts. They are largely absent. The Sufi tradition is where Jesus became revered, acknowledged as a spiritual teacher with a distinctive voice from other prophets, including Muhammad.
Muslims believe that the Quran was orally revealed by God to the final prophet, Muhammad , through the archangel Gabriel ( Jibril ), incrementally over a period of some 23 years, beginning in the month of Ramadan, when Muhammad was 40; and concluding in 632, the year of his death.
Most Muslims are of one of two denominations; Sunni (75–90%) and Shia (12-17%).
The major Abrahamic religions in chronological order of founding are Judaism (the base of the other two religions) in the 7th century BCE, Christianity in the 1st century CE, and Islam in the 7th century CE.
However, Muslims generally view these books (i.e the Bible , or parts of it) as having been corrupted, altered and interpolated over time, while maintaining that the Quran remains as the final, unchanged and preserved word of God.

Christianity. Arabic-speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Christians and Jews, use the word ” Allah ” to mean ” God “. The Christian Arabs of today have no other word for ” God ” than ” Allah “. Similarly, the Aramaic word for ” God ” in the language of Assyrian Christians is ʼĔlāhā, or Alaha.
History of religious texts The ”Rig Veda” – a scripture of Hinduism – is dated to between 1500–1200 BCE. It is one of the oldest known complete religious texts that has survived into the modern age.
Mary ( Maryam – مريم) is the only woman mentioned in the Quran by name. The others ‘ names come from different traditions. Most of the women in the Quran are represented as either the mothers or wives of leaders or prophets.
Quran . The Quran instructs both Muslim men and women to dress in a modest way, but there is disagreement on how these instructions should be interpreted. The clearest verse on the requirement of modest dress is Surah 24:31, telling women to guard their private parts and draw their khimār over their bosoms.
The perpetual virginity of Mary is the doctrine that Mary , the mother of Jesus Christ, was a virgin ante partum, in partu, et post partum—before, during and after the birth of Christ.
