Tilapia is rumored to be the fish that was caught by St. Peter in the Sea of Galilee and fed to the masses of Tabgha, an ancient town on the north-west coast of the sea, by Jesus . This is one of the reasons why the fish is also known as “St. Peter’s fish ” and is separated from meat according to Lenten standards.
Here is the text of Luke 24:41-43 which explicitly says that Jesus asked for food and that he actually ate FISH and HONEY which the disciples gave him: And they gave him a piece of BROILED FISH and some HONEY. And HE TOOK IT AND ATE IT in front of them.”
“`Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales. But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales–whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water–you are to detest.
Based on the Bible and historical records, Jesus most likely ate a diet similar to the Mediterranean diet, which includes foods like kale, pine nuts, dates, olive oil , lentils and soups. They also baked fish.
The bad news for tilapia is that it only contains 240 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving — ten times less omega-3 than wild salmon (3). Some people even believe omega-6 fatty acids can be harmful and increase inflammation if eaten in excess ( 8 ).
Tilapia is loaded with omega-6 fatty acids, which we already eat too much of in our modern society. Excess omega-6 can cause and exacerbate inflammation so much that it makes bacon look heart-healthy. Inflammation can lead to heart disease and also exacerbate symptoms for people suffering from asthma and arthritis.

Indeed, in the Hebrew Bible, eating pork is not only unclean, it is treated as disgusting and horrific. The book of Isaiah associates it with death, idolatry, and sin (65:4; 66:3).

In Leviticus 11:27, God forbids Moses and his followers to eat swine “because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud.” Furthermore, the prohibition goes, “Of their flesh you shall not eat , and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.” That message is later reinforced in Deuteronomy.

The passage about not eating shrimp is found in Leviticus 11:9-12. “These you may eat , of all that are in the waters. You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is detestable to you.
