Judas chose to betray Jesus for money. Peter chose to deny Jesus for safety and security. They by no means had to do those things just as you and I don’t have to sin.

With the Keys of St. Peter , often one key is gold and the other silver. The first represents the power to bind and loose in heaven , spiritual authority, while the second represents the power to bind and loose on earth, temporal authority. Jesus gave Peter “the keys of the kingdom of heaven ,” not the keys to heaven .
John 19:2-3 says “And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. The color Purple was that of royalty. They came up to him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’
He asked Jesus to command Peter to come to Him. Jesus did, and Peter got out of the boat. He began to walk on the water toward Jesus . But when Peter heard the loud winds and saw the waves crashing around him, he was afraid.
The ransom theory of atonement says that Christ liberated humanity from slavery to sin and Satan, and thus death, by giving his own life as a ransom sacrifice to Satan, swapping the life of the perfect ( Jesus ), for the lives of the imperfect (other humans).
