The Catholic Church’s mission is to carry out and continue the work of Jesus Christ on Earth. The Church, and those in it, must: share the Word of God. help those in need.
Jesus’s death is the penalty or “satisfaction” for sin . Satisfaction was an idea used in the early church to describe the public actions – pilgrimage, charity – that a christian would undertake to show that he was grateful for forgiveness. Only Jesus can make satisfaction because he is without sin .
The Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of the Trinity as “a mystery of faith in the strict sense, one of the ‘ mysteries that are hidden in God, which can never be known unless they are revealed by God'”, and it declares: “The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life.
Almost every Catholic begins and ends prayer “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” . Some tend to pray to God as Father and Creator. Some tend to pray more to Jesus , or to the Holy Spirit. Many feel great comfort praying the rosary and asking for the intercession of Mary.
Jesus , also called Jesus Christ , Jesus of Galilee, or Jesus of Nazareth, (born c. 6–4 bce, Bethlehem—died c. 30 ce, Jerusalem), religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions. He is regarded by most Christians as the Incarnation of God.
Nietzsche , as a mid-19th-century German philosopher, first declared God dead in the context of this idealism. He might just as well simultaneously have declared “reason” dead. Indeed, he did just that.
1 He Made One Effective Sacrifice We cannot make right all our wrongs, so God takes pity on us and grants forgiveness of our debt. He does this through Jesus his Son, “the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1:29). Only the death of Christ could take away sins (Hebrews 9:15).
We come to a most reverent part of Scripture in reading about the sacrifice of Christ for our sins . It is here the words of John the Baptist, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world,” have even greater meaning.
Since the Rosary has five decades, each of which corresponds to one mystery , there are five mysteries for each Rosary . The Agony of Christ in the Garden. The Scourging at the Pillar. The Crowning with Thorns . The Carrying of the Cross . The Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord on the Cross .
The words one, holy, catholic and apostolic are often called the four marks of the Church .
FIRST JOYFUL MYSTERY: THE ANNUNCIATION OF OUR LORD The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one!
Like other Christians, Catholics believe Jesus is a divine person, the Son of God. They believe that because of his love for all people, he died so that all people will live forever in heaven. The Catholic Church also recognizes the Trinity; that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are together the only God.
Roman Catholic Church doctrine supports intercessory prayer to saints . It is good and useful suppliantly to invoke them, and to have recourse to their prayers , aid, and help for obtaining benefits from God, through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, Who alone is our Redeemer and Saviour.”
