He is believed to be the Jewish messiah who is prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, which is called the Old Testament in Christianity. It is believed that through his Crucifixion and subsequent Resurrection, God offered humans salvation and eternal life, that Jesus died to atone for sin to make humanity right with God.
Jesus taught , “When you pray , do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men … but when you pray , go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.”
Jesus was fully God , and fully man . He took on the form of a servant (a fleshly body) and demonstrated personally how to please the Father. He prayed because he did not know what God’s will was (sounds like you and me).
We can use prayer as a way of opening our hearts to God, not as a being living in an extra-dimensional heaven, but as the wellspring of creative energy within us and the universe. By quieting our minds, we can open ourselves to experience this divine ground directly.
