Jesus ( c. 4 BC – AD 30 / 33), also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ , was a first-century Jewish preacher and religious leader. He is the central figure of Christianity, the world’s largest religion. Jesus was a Galilean Jew, who was baptized by John the Baptist and began his own ministry.

Joseph is from Bethlehem . Joseph was betrothed to Mary, and they had never “assembled” sunerchomai (συνέρχομαι) before Joseph arrived as the bridegroom in Nazareth . They returned to Bethlehem to be registered in the census.
Some apocryphal accounts state that at the time of her betrothal to Joseph, Mary was 12–14 years old . According to ancient Jewish custom, Mary could have been betrothed at about 12. Hyppolitus of Thebes says that Mary lived for 11 years after the death of her son Jesus, dying in 41 AD.
